How to fit blogging into my life

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to get out of blogging. I was very good, for most of last year, and posted twice a week on a topic almost always related to writing (once a month I posted about sewing instead). That schedule though quickly became tedious. It turns out that as much as I enjoy writing, I don’t have that much to say about it.

I want to continue blogging. I feel it adds something to my life. The process of coming up with ideas, fleshing them out, and posting them has been good for me. The deadline of my posting schedule has forced me to get at least a little bit of writing each week. It has forced me to write at least twice a week, even if I didn’t really have anything to say.

While looking over my posts from the last year I also realized that I enjoyed writing some flash fiction. I won’t say I’m great at it, but it was a learning experience I’d be happy to delve into again.

This year I want to change things up so I keep the good (writing, deadline adherence, sharing), but remove some of the tediousness (posting about the same stuff over and over). For the next few months this probably means my blog is going to be a strange mix of topics. I’m going to try to stick to quilting, writing, flash fictions, and goal updates etc. I guess we’ll have to see how it goes.

Do you manage to stick to a single blog topic, or do you just around?
